About This Part

Planet is a driver Takara Tomy released for the Burst System and the God Layer System, debuting in Japan inside the B-90 3on3 Battle Booster Set on August 11th, 2017. It uses a freely rotating metal ball tip much like Metal Fight Beyblade's Metal Ball performance tip, set inside two upward-angled tracks that each hold a metal ball reminiscent of the old GB145 track. The idea is for the ball tip to lower the centre of balance and cut friction the way Weight does, while the two moving balls shift outward at high spin speed to widen weight distribution and inward at low speed to help maintain spin, though the curved tracks in practice let the balls settle unevenly and drain stamina instead.

In Play

Despite the added weight helping knock-out resistance somewhat, the community considers Planet outclassed by its predecessor Weight because of the imbalance the curved tracks introduce, and rates it a collector's piece rather than a competitive one.

  • Debuted in Japan inside the B-90 3on3 Battle Booster Set on August 11th, 2017.

The Competitive View

Because the tracks are circular rather than straight, the internal balls shift to one side and unbalance the tip, draining stamina; the free-spinning primary ball adds little over predecessor Weight, and the surrounding plastic ridge nullifies life-after-death while still risking knockouts when off balance.

Verdict as the draft gives it: Outclassed by predecessor Weight in essentially every respect; recommended for collection purposes only.

  • Free-spinning metal ball primary tip
  • Two circular tracks, each containing a metal ball meant to shift outward under centripetal force
  • Product: B-90 Galaxy Zeus 4Meteor Planet (3 on 3 Booster Set), translucent yellow-orange
  • No Hasbro release listed
