About This Part

Metal Accel is an Attack-type Driver that Takara Tomy released for the Burst System and the Superking Layer System, reaching the west through Hasbro's Triple Threat Collection. It is the Metal Lock version of the Accel Driver: a small-diameter flat plastic tip at standard height, fitted with a Metal Lock and a stronger spring that add weight and Burst Resistance, though the lock's shorter tabs mean less Burst Resistance than the spring alone would suggest. Early production used a Metal Lock shape that could damage a Layer's teeth; from October 2021 onward, reprints shortened the tabs to cut that risk, at the cost of some Burst Resistance.

In Play

The community rates Metal Accel as faster than Blow but slower than Xtreme, a strong choice for Mobile Stamina and Attack/Stamina Balance builds thanks to its plastic construction resisting wear, though its plastic tip loses its banking pattern easily on unbalanced builds and its low friction leaves it prone to self-knock-outs, and rubber Attack Drivers such as Xtreme still outclass it, so it is mainly a collection piece.

  • Released by Takara Tomy in Japan with the B-178 Random Booster Vol. 24 on February 27th, 2021.
  • Released by Hasbro in western countries with the Triple Threat Collection.
  • Metal Lock Drivers produced from October 2021 onward use a running-change mold with shortened tabs.
