About This Part

Merge is a Balance-type Driver that Takara Tomy released for the Burst System, the God Layer System and the SwitchStrike System, later reaching the west through Hasbro's SwitchStrike starter, Legend Spryzen S3 7 Merge. It pairs a six-pointed flat rubber tip with a sharp plastic point at its centre, sitting at standard height; launched straight down, the centre point keeps the Beyblade stable and stationary, holding onto Stamina. Once knocked off balance or launched at an angle, the rubber points make contact with the stadium floor and produce an aggressive movement pattern faster than Xtreme, though the sharp centre can cut that movement short, and a worn tip switches to acting as brakes against knock-outs instead.

In Play

The community treats Merge as outclassed for tournament play because its attack is inconsistent and its Stamina is weak, though it remains a versatile piece worth owning.

  • Released by Takara Tomy in Japan with the B-86 Starter, Legend Spriggan 7 Merge, on July 1st, 2017.
  • Released by Hasbro in western countries with the SwitchStrike Starter Pack, Legend Spryzen S3 7 Merge.

The Competitive View

Launched straight down, the sharp center keeps it stable and stamina-conserving. Knocked off balance or launched at an angle, the rubber points create an aggressive movement pattern faster than Xtreme, but this is unreliable since the sharp center can stall the motion, and the extra rubber surface hurts stamina. When worn, the rubber instead acts as Knock-Out brakes at a stamina cost before the part returns to a stable spin. It is reported to be somewhat more aggressive and consistent than predecessor Unite when launched with a Sliding Shoot, and to behave differently for left-spin vs. right-spin use.

Verdict as the draft gives it: Outclassed for competitive Attack use due to inconsistency and weak stamina, but valued for versatility and collecting.
