About This Part
Liner is a Balance-type Driver that Takara Tomy released for the Burst System and the Dual Layer System, later reaching western stores through Hasbro's Inferno Ifritor I2 Magnum Liner starter. It centres on a vertically mounted, free-spinning wheel that gives the Driver a self-righting action, nudging a knocked Beyblade back toward the stadium's centre. The wheel also lets a Beyblade using Liner counterattack an opponent head-on, though the resulting instability can raise the risk of a Burst and weaken late-game Stamina.
In Play
The community rates Liner as suited mainly to knock-out defence builds, since it returns to centre faster than Atomic or Yard, though its unbalanced late-game spin makes it a poor fit for most other combinations; it sees occasional use against same-spin attack builds running rubber drivers like Xtreme or Hunter.
- Released by Takara Tomy in Japan with the B-64 Beyblade Super Custom Set Heavy Ver. on November 12th, 2016.
- Released by Hasbro in western countries with the Inferno Ifritor I2 Magnum Liner starter pack.
- A Limited Color version was distributed in Japan through a store purchase promotion.
- The Limited Color Liner Driver could be obtained by spending up to 2000円 on Takara Tomy Beyblade Burst products at certain stores in Japan.
The Competitive View
Because the wheel gimmick doesn't actually spin in normal use, Liner ends up with sub-par stamina and defense and a thin profile that leaves it prone to destabilization, with little competitive track record.
Verdict as the draft gives it: Only mediocre in attack, defense and stamina; recommended for collection purposes only.
