About This Part

Hold is a Driver Takara Tomy released for the Burst System and the Dual Layer System, first appearing in Japan on November 12th, 2016 in the B-63 Beast Behemoth Heavy Hold booster, before Hasbro carried it to western markets in the Beast Betromoth B2 Heavy Hold starter. It pairs a wide, free-spinning flat tip with a textured outer ring, giving it enough speed to launch itself toward the Tornado Ridge while the ring's grip keeps it from tipping over. Individual copies vary in how freely the tip spins, which shifts the balance between speed and stamina from one unit to the next.

In Play

The wide tip makes a stable banking pattern hard to hold, so Hold performs poorly as a pure attacker, but its free-spinning action and ring grip give it strong spin-equalization potential, historically making it a top pick in that role even though more consistent options like Destroy' have since overtaken it.

  • Released in Japan on November 12th, 2016 with the B-63 Beast Behemoth Heavy Hold booster.
  • Released in western markets by Hasbro with the Beast Betromoth B2 Heavy Hold starter pack.
  • A translucent cyan version shipped in the B-80 Random Booster Vol. 6.
  • A limited color version was distributed through a Japanese in-store purchase campaign.
  • The limited color version of Hold was obtainable by spending up to 2000円 on Takara Tomy Beyblade Burst products at certain Japanese stores.

The Competitive View

Hold's width makes it hard to hold a clean banking pattern and can even slow the Beyblade down, so it works best as a counter to Tornado Staller and mobile-stamina setups rather than as a banking attacker, though its low stamina rules it out for stalling builds itself.

Verdict as the draft gives it: One of the fastest attack tips in the game, but its uncontrollable movement keeps it from top-tier status; still a good fallback option and a welcome collection addition.

  • Debuted B-63 Beast Behemoth Heavy Hold, November 12, 2016, translucent dark purple
  • Individual copies vary in how freely the tip spins, trading speed for stamina
