About This Part

Gyro is a Driver Takara Tomy released for the Burst System, debuting in Japan on February 20th, 2016 with the B-31 Starter, Yggdrasil Ring Gyro, and reaching the west through Hasbro's Caynox and Wild Wyvron W2 Dual Pack. It carries a small, free-spinning cone tip set at a low angle and sits at standard driver height, giving a calm, steady spin whose shallow angle resists tipping over and the resulting floor scrapes. Because the tip spins freely, Gyro surpasses its predecessor Survive in raw stamina potential.

In Play

Community builds favour Gyro in stamina setups such as Deathscyther Spread Gyro, whose endurance rivals Deathscyther Heavy Defense's, and in the attack/stamina hybrid Valkyrie Heavy Gyro, which beats stationary Deathscyther combinations by burst almost as reliably as Valkyrie Heavy Xtreme while risking fewer self-knockouts; its main weakness next to drivers like Claw and Survive is a greater tendency to be knocked off balance. Its stamina once matched Defense's, but later drivers such as Revolve and Atomic have left it well behind, so it is now kept mainly for collecting.

The Competitive View

Used in the Stamina setup Deathscyther Spread Gyro it performs comparably to Deathscyther Heavy Defense, and in the Attack/Stamina hybrid Valkyrie Heavy Gyro it is built to beat stationary Deathscyther via a Burst Finish similarly to Valkyrie Heavy/Spread Survive, doing so as reliably as Valkyrie Heavy Xtreme but with less risk of self-knockout.

Verdict as the draft gives it: Gyro's stamina is considered comparable to Defense's while being more versatile than both Defense and Survive, making it an essential part for a competitive blader's collection.
