Defense-S is a Driver Hasbro built for the SlingShock System, adapting the original Defense for that hardware; it debuted in western countries inside the SlingShock Single Pack Flame-X Diomedes D4 8 Defense-S. Its ball tip stands noticeably taller than the standard Defense and carries two tabs joined to the tip that let a blader manually switch the part between Battle Ring Mode and SlingShock Mode, sliding the tabs across and pressing them down to flip between the two.
