About This Part

Defense is a Driver Takara Tomy released as one of the first four Drivers in the Burst System, debuting in Japan on July 18th, 2015 inside the B-04 Starter Kerbeus Central Defense, and later brought west by Hasbro in the Valtryek and Unicrest Dual Pack. It stands at a standard height with a ball tip carrying four tabs, meant to right the part after it is knocked off balance and to brake against knock-outs at the cost of stamina, while a ring set low on the shaft is too far down to ever touch an opposing Beyblade but still leaves a smooth enough perimeter to help the part keep spinning after a loss.

In Play

At launch Defense was a versatile, genuinely competitive part, but later Drivers such as Metal Universe and Atomic' have since outclassed it, and the community now treats it as a collector's piece rather than a tournament choice.
