About This Part
Defense Grip Base is a mid-height Blade Base from the Spin Gear System, released with Seaborg, built around six large screw-like ridges and a sharp rubber tip that barely moves once it settles near the stadium's centre. In that default orientation it is very hard to knock out, though its balance and spin time are poor enough that most opponents with reasonable Survival can simply outlast it. Flipping the tip upside down converts it into a wide, flat rubber Attack tip instead, turning the same part into a fast, budget-friendly Smash Attack base.
In Play
Used normally for Defense it sees little competitive play beyond filling in for stronger options; inverted for Attack, the community rates it highly, on par with Grip Base and effective alongside Triple Tiger, Mountain Hammer, or aggressive setups like Dragon Breaker with Screw Zeus, though Hasbro's altered tip mold causes skipping in that role and is best avoided.
- Released with Seaborg.
- Hasbro's release removed a section of the flat tip, causing it to skip when used inverted for Attack, an issue the community compares to Metal Fight Beyblade's Quake Bottom.
