Community testing, Oct. 14, 2017 — summarised
The competitive view
Guardian Kerbeus is a Defense-type Energy Layer modeled on the three-headed hound Cerberus, with three dog heads around its perimeter connected by softer-plastic 'chains' meant to flex inward on impact for a 'Bound Defense' gimmick similar to Jerk. In testing the chains proved too rigid to actually cushion hits, and combined with weak teeth on the Japanese release this leaves the layer very prone to Bursting despite strong Stamina performance.
Despite high Burst risk from its rigid, ineffective chain gimmick and weak Japanese-release teeth, Guardian Kerbeus posts some of the best Stamina in the game and can beat other top Stamina/Defense layers like Drain Fafnir and Maximum Garuda directly; it is recommended in the Stamina combination Guardian Kerbeus Heavy/Gravity/2/4/5/7/8 Glaive/Cross Revolve/Orbit/Atomic, which is strong versus other Stamina/Defense combos but vulnerable to Attack.
Verdict as the draft gives it: A must-have for competitive bladers despite its weak Burst resistance, on the strength of its Stamina.
- Debuted in BG-06 Random Layer Collection Volume 6, released around May 13, 2017 (date uncertain)
- Three dog-head contact points connected by softer-plastic chain links (Bound Defense gimmick)
- Takara Tomy releases: BG-06 Random Layer Collection Vol. 6 (green and black, translucent yellow God Chip); B-90 Guardian Kerbeus Heavy Revolve (3 on 3 Booster Set), green and orange
