Description

Klaus of Team Excalibur pilots Grand Capricorn 145D in Beyblade: Metal Masters, where it carries the Capricorn motif over a Grand Fusion Wheel built for Defense Type play. Hasbro brought the top west under the alternate spelling Grand Capricorne 145D, packaging it in the Team Excalibur Set in March 2012. The stack pairs a 145 Spin Track with a Defense Performance Tip for a low, steady stance.

The competitive view

Grand Capricorne 145D is a Hasbro-exclusive Beyblade from the Team Excalibur Set, pairing the Capricorne Clear Wheel with the Grand Metal Wheel, 145 Track, and Defense (D) Bottom.

The Capricorne Clear Wheel is unremarkable but can add minor Smash Attack if nothing better is available; Grand is thicker but lighter and weaker defensively than the second Earth mold, offering mediocre Smash Attack outclassed by wheels like Flash, VariAres, and Blitz; 145 works well in Stamina builds such as Burn Bull 145WD and in the Attack combo MF Pegasis 145RF; D is recommended for Stamina at 170-height or above, such as Phantom Cancer 230D or TH170D.

Verdict as the draft gives it: Grand is called a mediocre Defense wheel outclassed by Death, Wing, and Duo, and AD145 is preferred over 145 for Stamina; the only real reason to buy this Beyblade is the D tip, which is available more cheaply elsewhere, so it is recommended for collectors only.

  • Face: Capricorne, depicting the Capricorn zodiac sign; Hasbro's art omits the printed word 'Capricorne'
  • Capricorne Clear Wheel: 2.9 grams; this release opaque red-orange (an earlier Hasbro release was clear bright orange)
  • Grand Metal Wheel: 29.3 grams, 3.5 grams lighter than the second Earth mold, six 'walls' split into three sections
  • 145 Track: 1.5 grams
  • Defense (D) Bottom: 0.68 grams
  • Released only by Hasbro, in the Team Excalibur Set
  • Other versions/molds: Dark Capricorne 105RF (Hybrid Wheel Reshuffle Set, purple), Flame Capricorne T125HF (Random Booster Vol.4, grey-brown), Rock Capricorne T125D (Random Booster Vol.4, light grey), Screw Capricorne 90MF (BB-92 Booster, blue), Storm Capricorne M145Q (BB-50), Capricorne 100HF, Fury Capricorne 100HF, Lightning Screwdriver Capricorne (gold-painted horns, Lightning Screwdriver Top Pack)
