Description

Dranzer Auto Change Balancer went on sale in March 2000 as a Spin Gear System top, ahead of its successor Dranzer S, built from a Dranzer bit chip, the Wing Cutter attack ring, a Balance weight disk and the Auto Change blade base. That base was the first to switch between Attack Mode and Stamina Mode, a trick that went on to define most Dranzer releases from the first season through V-Force.

Parts in detail

A Right-Spin-only release built around the Wing Cutter Attack Ring and the Auto Change Base gimmick base, paired with the plain Balance Weight Disk.

SlotPartWeightSpinNote
Attack Ring Wing Cutter 2.7 (Mold 1) / 3.2 (Mold 2, reinforced) g Right only A four-winged, reasonably balanced ring hampered by fragile wing connections (in its original mold) and a fair amount of recoil from the protruding wing trails; its contact points are also poorly exposed and angled for offense.
Weight Disk Balance 14.1 g A light disk with an unremarkable, fairly wide weight spread; its large, broad points create recoil risk against harder-hitting opponents.
Blade Base Auto Change Base 8.5 g An awkwardly engineered gimmick base whose spring-and-lock mechanism switches tip shape from wide/flat to sharp once hit hard enough. It has some LAD but the gimmick effectively spends most of its offensive value on a single trigger event, and it's fiddly to control; starting a match already in sharp mode is possible and passable but still outclassed by dedicated sharp-tip bases.

Weights are single copies weighed on their own; a part can vary by a few tenths of a gram.

In play and in the story

Community assessment treats the Wing Cutter ring as outdated for modern play, since its four wings sit shorter than current weight disks and expose bare metal underneath in contact, while the Balance weight disk is judged too light to be worth using competitively.

  • Released in March 2000, succeeded later by Dranzer S.

Community testing, Apr. 26, 2012 — summarised

The competitive view

The plastic-era Balance-type starter Dranzer Auto Change Balancer has a Wing Cutter Attack Ring, Balance Weight Disk, and an Auto Change Base blade base that automatically switches between Attack and Stamina modes when hit. Whether the part can be competitive against Driger V2 is disputed.

  • Item: #27
