Hybrid Wheel System

Introduced March 28, 2009 as the Metal Series' second system, this one splits the old single Wheel into two separate pieces, an Energy Ring (Clear Wheel) and a Fusion Wheel (Metal Wheel), cutting the metal content and overall weight compared with the system it replaced. A top's full name reads off its parts in order, so Storm Pegasus 105RF pairs a Pegasus Energy Ring with a Storm Fusion Wheel, a 10.5mm Spin Track and a Rubber Flat Performance Tip, and every release in the line follows that same naming pattern. Hasbro briefly rebranded it as the Performance Top System during Metal Masters to separate it from its Extreme Top System line, a label Hasbro later recycled for Burst Series marketing despite no technical link between the two.
