Biography

Bryan Kuznetsov — Boris Kuznetsov in Japan — is the most openly sadistic of the Demolition Boys, raised in the Abbey programme with Tala, Spencer and Ian and trained to treat an opponent as a target rather than a rival. His falcon Falborg controls the air, and in the World final he uses it to cut Ray with blades of wind until the crowd and the referees are begging for it to stop; Ray's refusal to fall is one of the trilogy's defining moments, and beating him visibly shakes Bryan. He rarely loses his temper and that match is the exception. Free of Boris and Voltaire he mellows a great deal in G-Revolution, training with Kai, helping confront BEGA and taking the same beating from Garland's Apollon as the rest — an arc that loses most of its key battles and still closes on genuine reform.

Appearance and personality

What They Look Like, and How They Behave

Average build, pale, with lavender hair, usually in maroon and navy winter clothes. G-Revolution turns the hair spiky grey and sharpens the eyebrows to match, with no reason given on screen.

Ruthless and close to unreadable. He attacks the blader rather than the Beyblade and will go a long way to break both. He rarely loses his temper; his battle with Ray Kon is the exception. After Biovolt falls he reforms with the rest of the Demolition Boys into something considerably more honourable.

Where the seasons take them

Beyblade (2001)

Demolition Boys

Bryan and Spencer jump Max's bus ahead of the finals and strip him of Draciel before he can even reach the dish. When his own turn comes against Ray, Bryan turns Falborg's wind into a weapon nobody can call foul on, slicing at both blade and blader and even kicking a chunk of the stadium into Ray's stomach to wind him. He shows no mercy and is comfortably ahead until Driger tears free to shield its master, shredding Falborg to pieces and leaving Bryan visibly rattled by the reversal. He loses the match, but the damage is already done — Ray ends the day in hospital.

Beyblade G-Revolution (2003)

Blitzkrieg Boys

Freed from Boris's orders, Bryan visibly softens, and though he wins his qualifiers in Russia he never quite beats Tala or Spencer for a place on the roster — he stays around the team anyway, watching Kai and Tala's battles from the sidelines. He later agrees to train alongside Kai and Spencer and pushes himself hard enough to collapse from exhaustion. When Boris resurfaces as BEGA, Bryan rejoins Tala and Spencer to tear the league down; the three make quick work of BEGA's water-themed recruits, but Bryan and Spencer are outmatched when Garland's Apollon meets them, and both lose with their beyblades badly damaged.

Quotes

In Their Own Words

  • Understood.
  • That's just my way of saying hi.
  • There's a lot more where that came from, Ray. And before I take your bit-beast, I'm gonna put you through the wringer.
  • Quit blowing hot air! ... And feel this breeze!
  • Aw, don't like the wind? Well, I have bad news for you! There's a tornado coming!
  • You must be a-gluten for punishment. ... Obviously, I didn't defeat you badly enough, because you came back for a second helping. Well, I can accommodate that.
  • Or maybe you don't want us to interrupt their ballet lesson.
