About This Part

Made by Takara Tomy for the Synchrome System, Griffin (Gryph in Japan) reached shelves in Japan on June 23rd, 2012 as the BBG-12 Booster Archer Gryph C145S, then crossed to western countries as the SS-12 Starter Pack Archer Griffin C145S. Weighing 30.4 grams across a 46.09mm outer width, Gryph is built from eight sections echoing the shape of the Leone Metal Wheel: four carry spikes curved for right-spin, while the rest are mostly straight boulder-like ridges in the manner of Bakushin, with one section shaped into a profile eagle head housing the Crystal Wheel's orb slot. Its main contact point delivers Force Smash on the bottom of a Synchrome and Upper Smash on top.

In Play

The community finds Gryph's compact circumference keeps it from making solid contact atop most Chrome Wheels, though it works well over Pegasis, exposing that wheel's wing contacts and lifting its spin velocity; on the bottom it boosts a partner wheel's RPM and reveals its contacts, though same-wheel pairings like Wyvang Wyvang still outclass it. Doubled with itself, Gryph makes a strong Smash Attack combo behind top-tier wheels such as Wyvang and Begirados, and it also carves out a niche in Balance customs paired with the E230 Track, grinding down Defense Types' stamina.
