About This Part
Hyperion takes its name from an epithet of Helios, the Greek sun god, and Takara Tomy released the right-spin chip in Japan on March 28th, 2020 inside the Super Hyperion Xceed 1A booster; Hasbro brought it west through the Super Hyperion String Launcher Pack. It is the first of two Hyperion Superking Chips, and at an average weight for the line it trails heavier metal-cored right-spin chips such as Hyperion 2 and Solomon, along with the dual-spin Diabolos and Spriggan.
In Play
Because most Superking Chips differ mainly in appearance rather than function, the community leans toward those heavier or dual-spin alternatives over Hyperion 1.
- Released by Takara Tomy in Japan on March 28th, 2020 as the Super Hyperion Xceed 1A booster.
- Reissued by Takara Tomy in Special, Black, and G1 Bronze/Silver/Gold colourways across multiple boosters and the B-00 line.
- Released by Hasbro in western countries as the Super Hyperion String Launcher Pack, later reissued in the Triple Threat Collection.
