About This Part

A hooded skull gripping a scythe gives Deathscyther its Grim Reaper look, continuing the design of earlier chips in its line. Takara Tomy issued it as a right-spin Superking Chip inside B-176 Random Booster Vol. 23 on December 26th, 2020, as part of the Burst System's Superking Layer System. Its weight is only average among Superking Chips, so it sits behind metal-cored rivals like Hyperion 2 and Solomon and behind the dual-spin Diabolos and Spriggan.

In Play

Because most Superking Chips differ mainly in look rather than function, the community steers toward those heavier or dual-spin alternatives over Deathscyther, and treats it as unfit for the Burst format and ineligible in the Burst GT, Limited and Classic formats.

  • Released by Takara Tomy in Japan on December 26th, 2020 with B-176 Random Booster Vol. 23.

The Competitive View

Excels at pure stamina battles, holding its ground against most opponents' impacts due to its flywheel-effect shape and resistant teeth; used in Deathscyther Heavy/Ring/Spread Defense/Survive (stability-focused stamina combo) and Deathscyther Heavy/Spread/Ring Accel/Blow/Zephyr (mobile stamina combo that avoids contact).

Verdict as the draft gives it: Top-tier for stamina combos, especially notable once the rival Odin layer was banned from WBO tournament play; considered the best in its category at the time.

  • Weight: 7.9 grams
  • Four-bladed hooded-skull design; three teeth in descending height order (tall, medium, short)

Works with

  • Pairs with Heavy, Ring or Spread discs and Defense/Survive or Accel/Blow/Zephyr drivers depending on stationary vs. mobile stamina strategy.

Related parts named in the draft: Odin, Basalt.
