About This Part
Takara Tomy released Tempest for the Burst System's Superking Layer System, debuting in Japan on August 8th, 2020 inside the B-171 Superking Triple Booster Set, whose rainbow stickers reference Rainbow-Flux. Two front blades and two rear upper blades echo the shape of its predecessor Ace, while four spring-loaded "Bound Blades" and a mode-change gimmick borrowed from the Imperial Base let it shift from a rounder Bound Mode into a more aggressive Awakened Mode once struck. In Bound Mode its wings tuck beneath the Ring and its long Bound Blades can parry hits much like God Valkyrie's own spring-loaded blades.
In Play
The Bound Blades never generate enough force to reliably knock an opponent out, so despite the Attack billing, competitive players find Tempest's real strength in Stamina and Stamina/Defense builds, where its rounded Bound Mode shape and above-average weight for a Superking Ring beat out lighter options like World or Curse; it is barred from both the WBO's Burst Limited and Classic Formats, and the broader shift toward heavier Layers has dulled its edge since release.
