About This Part

Takara Tomy built King as a left-spin Ring for the Burst System's Superking Layer System, putting it on shelves in Japan on March 28th, 2020 inside the B-160 Booster, King Helios Zone 1B; it reached western stores later as Kolossal, packed into Hasbro's Pro Series Starter Pack Kolossal Helios Zone 1B. Five prominent raised blades sit at the back with five smaller angled blades between them, and a thick underside lifts King and its attached Chip above the Chassis to expose more of the Chassis's teeth. Paired with the 1B Chassis, it can be flipped between a five-bladed leaning-Attack arrangement and a ten-bladed leaning-Defense one, though the community finds the difference between the two modes barely noticeable.

In Play

The high Burst Resistance from that raised underside is real, but the moderate recoil of King's shape keeps it from excelling at either Attack or Defense, so competitive players mostly limit it to niche Mobile Attack or Spin-Equalization builds and otherwise treat it as a collector's piece.

  • Debuted in Japan on March 28th, 2020 with the B-160 Booster, King Helios Zone 1B.
  • Released in western countries as Kolossal with Hasbro's Pro Series Starter Pack, Kolossal Helios Zone 1B.
