About This Part
Whirl adapts Takara Tomy's Wind BU Blade for Hasbro as a right-spin Stamina-type piece, keeping a round perimeter close in size to its own predecessor, the Air Knight K4 Layer, but slightly reduced from Wind's own diameter. Three small gaps split the centre from the rim, meant to push air downward and lift the piece off the stadium floor to cut friction and extend spin, though as a single plastic part it has no mode-change gimmick and runs only on the equivalent of Wind's Upper Force Mode. It debuted in the QuadStrike Starter Pack as Whirl Knight K8 Tapered-Q Jaggy-Q+Bounce-2.
In Play
The lift effect the gaps are meant to create proves negligible in practice, and community testing treats QuadStrike Blades such as Whirl as too light against Takara Tomy's Dynamite Battle Layer System pieces, leaving it unrecommended for Burst and illegal in the Burst Limited and Burst Classic formats.
- Released by Hasbro in the QuadStrike Starter Pack as Whirl Knight K8 Tapered-Q Jaggy-Q+Bounce-2 (F6808).
- Whirl's three surface gaps create a noticeably smaller air-resistance effect than Wind's own gaps, which the community considers a further mark against its already minor gimmick.
