About This Part
Metal Spike, also called Metal Sharp and abbreviated MS, is a Performance Tip Takara Tomy released as part of the Hybrid Wheel System, debuting in Japan on December 26th, 2009 with the BB-59 Starter Burn Phoenix 135MS and reaching western countries in May 2010 through the Burn Fireblaze 135MS Starter Pack. It is a Spike-style tip cast in metal and set on a taller base than other Spike tips, and its narrow metal point produces even less friction against the stadium floor than a plastic Spike, which helps Stamina but leaves the part prone to balance trouble because of its added height.
In Play
The World Beyblade Organization banned Metal Spike from Metal Fight tournaments because its metal point can dent Beystadiums when launched from height, though individual tournament organizers can lift that ban with a "Ranked Clause"; the WBO extended the ban across all of its formats on November 29, 2022.
- Debuted in Japan on December 26th, 2009 with the BB-59 Starter Burn Phoenix 135MS.
- Reached western countries in May 2010 with the Burn Fireblaze 135MS Starter Pack.
- Banned from every World Beyblade Organization format on November 29, 2022.
- Its design is considered comparable to the Burst Series' Wedge Driver and its variants and to the X Series' Metal Needle.
