About This Part

Flat Spike, also called Flat Sharp and abbreviated FS, is a Performance Tip Takara Tomy released in Japan on January 22, 2009 as part of the Metal System, debuting with the BB-26 Booster Gemios DF145FS and reaching western countries with the BB-29 Starter Pack Dark Wolf DF145FS. It combines a flat tip with a smaller, sharper spike set into its centre, so a straight launch spins mostly on that inner spike with little movement, while a tilted launch, whether from contact or from the throw itself, shifts the part into an offensive pattern.

In Play

As with other Balance Type tips, the community sees its split identity as a weakness: neither its Stamina nor its Attack side performs as well as a tip built for just one job.

  • Debuted in Japan on January 22, 2009 with the BB-26 Booster Gemios DF145FS.
  • Its split flat-and-spike design is considered comparable to the Burst Series' Fusion tip and its variants.
