About This Part

Takara Tomy modelled Xcalibur, an Attack Type Layer for the Burst System, on the legendary sword Excalibur, running a blade down its length with a bird's head on either side and a large X marking the centre. It arrived in Japan on December 26th, 2015 with the B-23 Starter, Xcalibur Force Xtreme. The sword tip juts far enough past the base to serve as the Layer's one true contact point, and Xcalibur was the first Layer in the line to get wider, taller teeth meant to stop the wear that plagued earlier designs.

In Play

That tooth redesign and the aggressive single contact point made Xcalibur a top-tier Attack choice, especially paired with a fast tip like Xtreme in the Xcalibur Heavy/Gravity Xtreme combination, though its off-centre weighting drains Stamina, breaks banking patterns more readily than rivals like Valkyrie, and courts self-bursts; the arrival of the SwitchStrike and God Layer System left it too light to stay competitive, and the community now keeps it for collecting rather than battle.
