About This Part

Vise Leopard is a symmetrical Attack Type Layer in Takara Tomy's Cho-Z Layer System, its twin leopard heads honouring the animal namesake and each carrying a wide mouth lined with red rubberized teeth; the metal used in those heads makes it heavier than most God Layer System parts. Its release in Japan came on July 14th, 2018, inside the B-118 Random Booster Vol. 11 Vise Leopard.12L.Ds set. Its gimmick springs the top half of the Layer forward to try to bite onto an opponent's Layer for Burst Attack, but the gap meant to catch that Layer is too narrow for most opponents, the rubber teeth too small to grip, and the spring itself too strong to move under real impact.

In Play

That leaves it with poor recoil for genuine Attack use, though its three sturdy teeth and fairly round shape give it moderate Defense potential; even so, the community rates it well behind Layers such as Archer Hercules and Revive Phoenix and treats it as a collector's item.

  • Debuted in Japan on July 14th, 2018 with the B-118 Random Booster Vol. 11 Vise Leopard.12L.Ds.
  • Reissued as Vise Leopard 1'Proof Operate in the B-140 Random Booster Vol. 15.

The Competitive View

In practice the perimeter gap is too small to catch an opponent's Layer, the teeth too small to grip it, and the gimmick's spring too strong to compress on impact, so the bite mechanism does not work as designed; its three strong teeth and fairly round shape instead give it moderate, incidental defense potential.

Verdict as the draft gives it: Recommended for collection purposes only, heavily outclassed by Archer Hercules and Revive Phoenix even in its incidental defensive role.

  • Metal leopard-head blades
  • Rubberized-plastic teeth
  • Spring-loaded biting gimmick
