About This Part
Unlock Unicorn is a round, Defense-built Layer that Takara Tomy released for the Dual Layer System, first appearing in Japan on August 6th, 2016 with the B-56 Booster Unlock Unicorn Down Needle. Ten blades ring the Layer to form the mythical unicorn it is named for: nine of clear plastic making up the mane, and one coloured piece standing in for the horn. The smooth, tightly packed mane blades deflect incoming hits for low recoil, while the taller, thinner horn is meant to snag an opponent for a counter-attacking Smash Attack, though in practice its angle mostly just creates an extra point of recoil for Unlock Unicorn itself.
In Play
Short, weak teeth leave it unable to absorb even that self-inflicted recoil, so despite a rim-heavy layout that would otherwise support good Stamina, the community rates it outclassed by Layers such as Deathscyther and Dark Deathscyther and keeps it strictly for collecting.
- Debuted in Japan on August 6th, 2016 with the B-56 Booster Unlock Unicorn Down Needle.
- Included twice in the B-67 Random Booster Vol. 5 Gigant Gaia.Q.F set, in translucent red as Quarter Accel and translucent black as Upper Trans.
- Reissued in translucent light blue in the BG-05 Random Layer Collection Vol. 5.
- Its animated appearance gives the horn more length and a sharper point than the physical part actually has.
