About This Part
Turbo Achilles A4 is Hasbro's Balance Type take on the Greek hero, a Layer for the Burst System's SlingShock line built around a forward-facing shielded face and four large perimeter blades, two of them sword-shaped for strong Knock-Out and Burst Attack output. It launched in western countries inside the SlingShock Starter Pack Turbo Achilles A4 00 Dimension-S. Unlike its Takara Tomy and Pro Series counterpart Cho-Z Achilles, it skips metal in the swords and uses shallow slopes rather than tall teeth, relying instead on the Turbo Awakening gimmick: centrifugal force at speed pops out sub-wings that push Burst Stopper tabs into the Forge Disc's grooves to block a Burst. The springs behind that mechanism are weaker than on its Takara Tomy counterparts, so the tabs trigger more easily but also retract under impact, and only two of the four wings actually move a tab; players must reset them by hand after every match.
In Play
It performs as a strictly weaker version of Cho-Z Achilles, so competitive use is mostly confined to Hasbro-only play or the WBO's Burst Limited format where the stronger Takara Tomy Layers are restricted.
- Debuted in western countries with the SlingShock Starter Pack Turbo Achilles A4 00 Dimension-S.
- Reissued in the E8566 Championship Clash set.
