About This Part

Takara Tomy's Spriggan opened the Burst line's Balance Type roster in Japan on July 18th, 2015 with the B-02 DX Starter Spriggan Spread Fusion. Three bumps sit on either side of it, two of them shaped by a double-claw form molded from colored plastic under a clear shell, gathering weight near the center in an arrangement that produces a modest flywheel effect; its overall weight sits under the roughly 8.0-gram average for the part type. Its four teeth climb toward a tall third tooth followed by a small fourth, so a harder hit generally makes it harder to burst unless that third tooth is forced to skip.

In Play

Community consensus calls it a jack-of-all-trades: never the top pick and always a step behind Valkyrie on release, yet capable of landing a surprisingly strong hit against otherwise solid Combinations whether mounted on a mobile tip like Accel or held stationary on tips like Defense or Survive. That inconsistency, though, leaves it behind more reliably aggressive Layers such as Valkyrie, Amaterios and Xcalibur, and the arrival of the SwitchStrike and God Layer Systems left it too light to compete, so it now sits as a collector's piece.

  • Debuted in Japan on July 18th, 2015 via the B-02 DX Starter Spriggan Spread Fusion.
  • Reissued as B-05 Spriggan Heavy Defense.
  • Included in B-15 Random Booster Vol. 1 Trident Heavy Claw in both the 02 and 06 slots.
  • Included in B-18 Beyblade VS Battle Set and B-21 Beyblade Custom Set Attack & Balance.
  • Reissued in B-30 Spriggan Spread Fusion Entry Package.
  • Released in a wbba.-exclusive colorway and in Gold and Legend CoroCoro-exclusive colorways, each as a standalone B-00 release.
  • Included as the 02 slot of BG-01 Random Layer Collection Vol. 1.

The Competitive View

Delivers occasional surprisingly strong hits whether mobile (on Accel) or stationary (on Defense/Survive), but lacks the consistency of more aggressive layers, and even paired with the top-tier Xtreme driver it remains behind Xcalibur and Valkyrie for Attack, with no shown potential in other combo types.

Verdict as the draft gives it: Outclassed by Xcalibur and especially the more versatile Valkyrie even with a top-tier driver; not a priority purchase.

  • Weight: 7.7 grams (below the roughly 8.0-gram Layer average)
  • Three prominent side bumps forming a pendulum-like weight distribution; ascending tooth heights ending in a tall third tooth and small fourth tooth

Works with

  • Works with the Xtreme driver for attack, though still outclassed by Xcalibur/Valkyrie combos.

Related parts named in the draft: Xcalibur, Valkyrie, Amaterios, Xtreme.
