About This Part
Takara Tomy put out Shadow Orichalcum, stylized Shadow Ωrichalcum, as a Layer spanning the Burst System and its God Layer System subline, reaching Japan in August 2017 through the CoroCoro-exclusive B-00 booster Shadow Orichalcum Aero Bite. It is a round piece with a face and an orb set into either side, both meant to evoke Orichalcum, the legendary metal that gives the part its name. Underneath, a pair of grooved claws sit ready to grip the Driver.
In Play
Centrifugal force pulls the two halves of the Layer outward as it spins, drawing the claws inward to bite the Driver and reveal gold coloring beneath, a gimmick meant to raise Burst Resistance while spin speed is highest early in a match; the friction it adds does work as designed. That outward motion, though, turns the Layer's profile elliptical, which drives up recoil and both Burst and Knock-Out risk, and the piece's four teeth are only medium in height, leaving it dependent on the gimmick rather than its own construction to avoid bursting. The community rates it as a nice pickup for a collection rather than a competitive staple.
- Released in Japan on the CoroCoro-exclusive B-00 booster Shadow Orichalcum Aero Bite in August 2017.
- Included as the 01 slot of BG-11 Random Layer Collection Vol. 11.
