About This Part
Also known by fans as Yamiterios, Shadow Amaterios, printed as Shadow αmaterios, reached Japan in August 2018 through the B-00 CoroCoro Exclusive Booster carrying the Xtreme finish, an Attack Type Layer from Takara Tomy for the Cho-Z Layer System. Two alternating sets of five blades ring the piece, with Amaterasu, the sun goddess of Japanese myth, carved at the centre, the same motif later carried by its successor Shining Amaterios. Five of the blades are lined with Cho-Z metal and carry plastic sections that can extend outward to widen the part's reach, while the other five stay fixed with a pair of plastic studs each, together weighing about half a gram more than Shining Amaterios.
In Play
The design aims for both continuous and heavy strikes, but the gaps between its blades run too tight for genuine attacking play and the extending gimmick rarely triggers in practice, so competitive players lean on it instead for stamina matchups, where its shape holds up well against both same-spin and opposite-spin rivals; a Level Chip fitted underneath, as with other Cho-Z Layers, adds weight and trims its burst risk.
- Debuted in Japan in August 2018 with the B-00 CoroCoro Exclusive Booster Shadow Amaterios 0 Xtreme'.
