About This Part
Takara Tomy shipped Quad Quetzalcoatl in Japan on October 22nd, 2016 inside the B-61 Random Booster Vol. 4, sizing it wide and thick for defensive play under the Dual Layer System. Its moulding carries a full Quetzalcoatl motif: a snake head with flicking tongue on top, coiled scale detail around the middle, a tail tip on the bottom and cobra-hook wings around the rim, naming the feathered-serpent god of Aztec myth. Rather than the round outline it appears to have, the piece is actually tear-drop shaped, with the head and tail poking through gaps meant to counter-attack an opponent.
In Play
In practice the tear-drop wings deflect less cleanly than a true round shape and the protruding head and tail barely reach far enough to burst a rival, so the counter-attack gimmick mostly just slows the combination down; its four medium-to-long teeth also lose ground to the recoil the gimmick generates, leaving stamina worse off too. The community rates it as outclassed for both defensive and attack roles once compared to pieces like Xcalibur, and treats it as collection-only after the SwitchStrike/God Layer System made it feel underweight.
- Debuted in Japan on October 22nd, 2016 with the B-61 Random Booster Vol. 4 Quad Quetzalcoatl.J.P.
- It is the second Beyblade built around Quetzalcoatl after Death Quetzalcoatl 125RDF, and unlike that earlier Balance Type, this one is built for Defense.
