About This Part
Orb Egis is a trapezoid-shaped, right-spin Defense Type Layer Takara Tomy built for the Burst System's Cho-Z Layer line, first given out in Japan as a prize in Random Layer Collection Vol. 10 in September 2018. Six serpentine Gorgon heads decorate the rim, echoing the legendary aegis shield of Greek myth, and the Cho-Z System lines its inner circumference in metal along with two metal spheres set on opposite sides. Hasbro later brought it west under the name Orb Engaard, built to the same shape but from lighter materials, in the Pro Series Starter Pack Orb Engaard Sting-P Quest.
In Play
Its sloped contact points make it a strong destabiliser when paired with Drivers such as Atomic', and the community rated it a solid Defense choice at release, though it has since fallen behind newer options and sits outside the WBO's Limited and Classic formats.
