About This Part
A wide, left-spin Attack Type Layer for the Burst System's God Layer line, Nightmare Longinus comes from Takara Tomy and reached Japan on November 11th, 2017 inside the B-97 Starter Nightmare Longinus Destroy. Four metal dragon heads decorate the piece, doubling the count of its predecessor, their snouts shaped like spearheads in reference to the Lance of Longinus from Christian legend. Two large wings on either side of an otherwise round rim serve as the main points of contact, and the God Layer System's Disc sits built directly into the Layer rather than as a separate part.
In Play
The heavy metal heads push up Knock-Out and Burst potential against opponents, and against a same-direction rival the left-spin design meshes like gears to cut recoil sharply, while an opposite-spin match still lets the wide wings knock the other Beyblade out; the community rated it one of the best Attack Layers on release, still favours it heavily in the Burst Limited format, and considers it outclassed for the open Standard metagame today.
- Debuted in Japan in the B-97 Starter Nightmare Longinus Destroy on November 11th, 2017.
- Reissued as prize number 05 in Random Booster Vol. 11 Vise Leopard.12L.Ds, named Nightmare Longinus Planet.
- Reissued in a Red Dragon colourway.
The Competitive View
The metal dragon heads add high inertia for strong Knock-Out and Burst attack, while a wide plastic base keeps the dragon heads from directly touching the opponent's layer. Against right-spin opponents it still bursts well when launched with moderate force; a soft launch against a faster right-spin foe instead produces gear-like spin-matching with less recoil, while soft-launching against a comparably fast opponent creates extra wing recoil for stronger Burst Attack and some spin equalization. The fused disc makes the whole combination unusually heavy for its class, boosting Burst resistance the way a heavy-layer/light-disc pairing normally would. Cited combo: Nightmare Longinus Bump/Meteor/Star/Vortex Destroy/Hold, where heavy Frames add Burst/Knock-Out power and the Destroy/Hold tip adds aggressive movement, speed and life-after-death as a spin-equalization backup.
Verdict as the draft gives it: Rated a highly versatile, must-have layer despite inconsistent teeth — valued for outperforming Legend Spriggan in left-spin attack and for countering Drain Fafnir F3.
- Debut: B-97 Starter Nightmare Longinus Destroy, Nov. 11, 2017
- Four metal dragon-head weights (predecessor layers in its line had two)
- Built-in Disk fused to the layer — incompatible with separate Disks, though the plastic base has notches for Frames
- Only two teeth (average length) on the Takara Tomy release
- Takara Tomy: B-97 Nightmare Longinus Destroy (white, blue and magenta)

- Incompatible with separate Forge Discs (disc is built in); accepts Frames via base notches.
