About This Part
Lightning L-Drago is a left-spin Attack Type Layer that Takara Tomy built for the Burst System, launching in Japan on October 19th, 2019 with the B-151 Random Booster Vol. 17. It adapts the L-Drago I Face Bolt, L-Drago I Energy Ring, and Lightning Fusion Wheel from the Hybrid Wheel System of the Metal Series line into one fused, non-interchangeable piece shaped around three dragon heads, and since the parts can no longer separate, the mode-change gimmick of the originals is gone, leaving it permanently set to what was once Rapid-Hit Mode; the Fusion Wheel section is now plastic with a metal rim, and the whole piece runs noticeably wider than the parts it draws from.
In Play
Its heavy build and aggressive shape made it a strong attacking option at launch, ahead of contemporary left-spin attackers in the Cho-Z Layer System and Gatinko Layer System such as Bloody Longinus and Zwei, and its Burst resistance sits at an average level, so a Dash Driver suits it well. In the WBO's Burst format the community now finds it too light against rivals such as Guilty and does not recommend it there, while in Burst GT its left-spin attacking strength still earns it a must-have rating; it holds no legal standing in the WBO's Burst Limited or Burst Classic formats.
- Debuted in Japan on October 19th, 2019 with the release of the B-151 Random Booster Vol. 17.
- The initial B-151 release mirrors the original Lightning L-Drago's Supreme Dragon Version, but rather than translating "極龍" as "Supreme Dragon" again, Takara Tomy left it untranslated on the packaging as Kyokuryu.
