About This Part

Kreis Satan is a round, thick Defense Type Layer that Takara Tomy released for the Burst System and the God Layer System, launching in Japan on March 18th, 2017 with the B-74 Starter, Kreis Satan 2Glaive Loop. A face beside the God Chip depicts Satan, the fallen angel of Christian scripture, and the mould pairs a clear hexagonal inner ring with three broad wings, each carrying small coloured blades set close and low for reduced recoil; gaps between the wings house the Layer's gimmick, three small rollers meant to sit in every other corner of the inner ring.

In Play

Those rollers are supposed to deflect an opponent's Layer by spinning against it, but their small size limits how well that works, and the gaps cut to fit them create their own recoil that the rollers only partly cover by protruding past the rim. Four teeth of moderate length paired with the low-recoil shape give it solid Burst and Knock-Out resistance, but the bulky build hurts stamina and leaves it easy to out-spin, and the roller-induced recoil puts it behind Layers such as Alter Chronos and Maximum Garuda; the community now treats what was once a leading defensive pick as a collector's item.

  • Debuted in Japan on March 18th, 2017 with the release of the B-74 Starter, Kreis Satan 2Glaive Loop.
  • Its abbreviation uses a backwards-styled S rather than a plain one so it isn't confused with Spriggan, which shares the same letter.
  • Its roller gimmick echoes older parts such as the Lizard Blocker, Roller Defense Ring, and Advance Defenser Attack Rings.

The Competitive View

The rollers are too small to meaningfully deflect attacks as intended, but the gaps they occupy stay mostly filled, so the recoil they do let through is minor, and combined with the layer's low-recoil wing design and sturdy teeth it holds up well against both bursts and knockouts.

Verdict as the draft gives it: An excellent defensive layer that every competitive blader should own, despite its roller gimmick not working as designed.
