About This Part
Takara Tomy released Hazard Kerbeus in Japan in June 2018 through the BG-09 Random Layer Collection Vol. 9, part of the Burst System's Cho-Z Layer System. Also drawing on the Cerberus myth, the Defense Type Layer pairs two large blades with three dog heads down its centre, and its Cho-Z construction lines those blades with metal chain-shaped inserts, adding weight beyond most God Layers.
In Play
Its blades bend inward on torsion springs for a "Bound Defense" gimmick shared with Jerk, Screw Trident, Deep Chaos and its own predecessor Guardian Kerbeus, and the springs here flex far more freely than Guardian Kerbeus's chains. Medium-length teeth put it near Kaiser Kerbeus, yet the community finds the dog heads' sharp muzzle protrusions create real recoil and the blades barely travel far enough to help, leaving a burst risk the teeth cannot offset; the Layer also runs unbalanced like many Cho-Z pieces, which drains stamina and risks breaking a banking pattern unless a Level Chip is fitted underneath. Archer Hercules and Revive Phoenix left it outclassed despite its improved gimmick.
- Debuted in Japan in June 2018 in the BG-09 Random Layer Collection Vol. 9.
- Reissued in the B-121 Cho-Z Triple Booster Set as Hazard Kerbeus 7 Atomic.
- Reissued in the B-130 Random Booster Vol. 13 as Hazard Kerbeus 4 Merge'.
- Reissued in the B-146 Random Booster Vol. 16 as Hazard Kerbeus 00Hit Guard.
The Competitive View
Community testing found decent balance and stamina even without a Level Chip, but noted the Layer tips over often and struggles to recover once it does.
- Two metal chain-shaped blades
- Medium teeth length, compared to Kaiser Kerbeus
- Bendable 'Bound Defense' blade gimmick using softer plastic than its predecessor
Related parts named in the draft: Guardian Kerbeus, Kaiser Kerbeus, Jerk, Screw Trident.
