About This Part
Takara Tomy issued Greatest Raphael in Japan on November 13th, 2021 inside the B-192 Booster, Greatest Raphael Over High Xtend+', built for the Burst System's Dynamite Battle Layer System. Named for the archangel Raphael, it is a round Layer moulded as one solid piece fusing the DB Core, Blade and Armor together, making it the first non-customizable Layer Takara Tomy had released since the Gatinko System's Bigbang Genesis at the start of 2020.
In Play
It carries the "Overdrive System" gimmick, starting in an eight-pronged Attack Mode and, as its spin slows in the later stages of a match, swinging its "Greatest Armor" segments inward toward the centre for a Defense Mode that concentrates its weight distribution; a paired "Metal Burst Lock" gimmick closes metal protrusions in around the Disc as speed drops, cutting burst risk further. Medium-length locks give it decent burst resistance, and while its lighter weight leaves it wanting against same-spin rivals, the community rates it strong against opposite-spin opponents thanks to that late-match Defense Mode transition, best paired with Drivers such as Mobius or Drift; a hit on the Armor mid-transformation can stop the shift on one or both sides. The World Beyblade Organization allows it in its Burst format but not in Burst GT, Burst Limited or Burst Classic.
- Debuted in Japan on November 13th, 2021 in the B-192 Booster, Greatest Raphael Over High Xtend+'.
- Greatest Raphael was one of only two Layers built around the Overdrive System gimmick.
- It was the first non-customizable Layer Takara Tomy had released since Bigbang Genesis debuted under the Gatinko Layer System in early 2020.
