About This Part

Galaxy Zeus is a Takara Tomy Layer for the Burst System's God Layer System, released in Japan on August 11th, 2017 through the B-90 3on3 Battle Booster Set. Four large blades give it a rounded-square outline, and its God Layer gimmick carries four metal balls running on internal tracks - double the pair found on its predecessor, Zillion Zeus - that swing outward under centrifugal force to push weight toward the rim and raise Stamina.

In Play

Teeth of only average length and a recoil-prone square shape akin to Wild Wyvern hold it back, but the added mass from its blades and balls boosts Burst Resistance enough to give it real Defense and Attack potential alongside its Stamina - a combination the community once used to strong effect in Galaxy Zeus 2/4/5/7 Cross/Glaive Atomic/Orbit, a Balance build that leaned on the free-spinning driver ball for Stamina and Burst Resistance and on the heavy discs for Knock-Out defence, provided it was launched at a moderate strength. It has since been passed by dedicated Attack, Defense and Stamina Layers such as Legend Spriggan or Sieg Xcalibur, Alter Chronos or Drain Fafnir, and Guardian Kerbeus or Deep Chaos, and the Cho-Z Layer System has left it too light for the current metagame, leaving the community to call it a worthwhile addition rather than essential.

The Competitive View

Its heavier weight of 12.8 grams gives it strong Defense and Attack potential on top of its Stamina, making it a top-tier Balance-type Layer; a recommended Balance setup is Galaxy Zeus 2/4/5/7 Cross/Glaive Atomic/Orbit, which outspins Attack and Defense combos while its square shape can burst opponents on contact.

Verdict as the draft gives it: It is considered a must-have for competitive bladers despite being, like other 'jack of all trades' parts, less consistent than a dedicated Attack, Defense, or Stamina layer such as Legend Spriggan/Sieg Xcalibur, Alter Chronos/Drain Fafnir, or Guardian Kerbeus respectively.
