About This Part
Takara Tomy's Driger Slash entered the Burst System in Japan on October 22nd, 2016, through the B-61 Random Booster Vol. 4 Quad Quetzalcoatl.J.P. It reworks the Tiger Defenser Attack Ring and Driger Bit Chip from the Spin Gear System into a thicker, elliptical layer with two large-winged tiger heads as its contact points, dropping the ring's Upper Attack slopes and fixing the metal chip depicting the Driger bit-beast permanently in place. Of its four teeth, the first is medium in length while the remaining three run so tall that bladers have reported the layer sticking between clicks.
In Play
Despite its elliptical, large-winged look suggesting heavy recoil, the acute angle of Driger Slash's contact points actually keeps recoil below Victory Valkyrie's, though its hollow, light build undercuts the Burst Resistance its tall teeth would otherwise provide. It once had a niche in Anti-Attack combinations against Valkyrie and Xcalibur, catching their points of contact to burst them, but the community considers that use obsolete since the heavier SwitchStrike and God Layer System parts arrived, and it now rates Driger Slash as the strongest of the four original-series re-releases while still recommending it only for collecting rather than competition.
- Debuted in Japan on October 22nd, 2016, in the B-61 Random Booster Vol. 4 Quad Quetzalcoatl.J.P.
- Reissued in the B-95 Random Booster Vol. 8 Shelter Regulus.5S.Tw.
- Reissued as a clear Beyblade Bar-exclusive version.
- Reissued as a black CoroCoro-exclusive Heavy Fusion version.
- Reissued in a gold Heavy Fusion version.
- Included in BG-07 Random Layer Collection Vol. 7.
- Reissued in the B-00 Bakuten Shoot Beyblade 20th Anniversary Set.
- Its tall teeth have been reported to make the layer stick briefly between clicks.
The Competitive View
Its elliptical shape's acute-angled contact points keep recoil below Valtryek V2's despite looking heavy-recoil, but this same low recoil costs it Stamina versus layers like Neptrius and Wyvron; in Defense, e.g. the setup Driger Slash Heavy/Gravity/2Glaive Defense/Orbit, its shape hooks and causes Attack-type opponents like Valtryek and Xcalius to self-Burst against its own strong Burst resistance, and it can partially counter Doomscizor D2 by catching its compact blades.
Verdict as the draft gives it: Driger Slash's low recoil makes it unsuited for Attack, and while its once-notable niche countering the now-banned Doomscizor D2 has faded, its strong teeth and Burst resistance still make it a worthwhile collection piece.
