About This Part
Dragoon Fantom arrived from Takara Tomy as part of the Burst System's contribution to Beyblade's 15th anniversary, first sold in Japan in December 2017 through the CoroCoro-exclusive Dragoon Fantom Gravity Variable (Aniki Ver.) booster. It reworks the Dual Dragon Attack Ring and Dragoon Bit Chip out of the Spin Gear System, keeping the diamond outline and four dragon-head contact points but tightening them into a smaller, lighter mould with a fixed metal chip showing the Dragoon bit-beast. Its teeth match those found on Victory Valkyrie in size, yet the layer's thin, hollow, single-plastic construction leaves it too light for those teeth to absorb recoil in most matchups.
In Play
Competitive players rate Dragoon Fantom's aggressive head shape as more of a liability than a strength once paired with the heavier SwitchStrike or God Layer System, and consider it outclassed for left-spin attack by parts such as Nightmare Longinus and Legend Spriggan; the community treats it as a collector's piece rather than a tournament choice.
- Released in Japan as part of Beyblade's 15th-anniversary line, December 2017, via the CoroCoro-exclusive Dragoon Fantom Gravity Variable (Aniki Ver.) booster.
- Reissued through a wbba. Store-exclusive edition of the same Gravity Variable release.
- Included in BG-10 Random Layer Collection Vol. 10.
- Reissued in the B-00 Bakuten Shoot Beyblade 20th Anniversary Set.
- Reissued in the B-00 Legend Star Bey Set.
The Competitive View
Despite Valtryek V2-comparable teeth, Dragoon Fantom's aggressively pointed heads generate more recoil than its thin, hollow, single-layer-plastic build can withstand, and the heavier God Layer/Switch-Strike System discs only worsen that mismatch.
Verdict as the draft gives it: Outclassed by other left-spin attack layers such as Nightmare Longinus and Legend Spriggan; suitable for collection purposes only.
- Debuted CoroCoro Magazine Exclusive Dragoon Fantom Gravity Variable (gold)
- Also released as B-00 Dragoon Fantom Gravity Variable (white)
- Single layer of plastic, hollow and thin, non-removable center chip
Related parts named in the draft: Dual Dragon Attack Ring (Plastics), Dragoon Bit Chip (Plastics), Valtryek V2, Nightmare Longinus, Legend Spriggan.
