About This Part
Named for the mythical immortal bird, Dead Phoenix centres a bird motif surrounded by four wing-blades, and Takara Tomy released it in Japan with the B-131 Booster, Dead Phoenix 0 Atomic, on January 26th, 2019, as part of the Burst System and Cho-Z Layer System; compared with predecessor Revive Phoenix, its core is lighter with less metal while its outer wing ring, the Dead Armor, is heavier and carries more metal. Its signature gimmick lets the piece burst twice: the four-bladed Dead Armor detaches from the rest of the layer on the first lost click, lightening it while smoothing its perimeter, though the discarded armour piece can also interfere with either blader's tip in the stadium.
In Play
At release, the Dead Armor's role in building the dominant Perfect Phoenix combination made Dead Phoenix a near-essential piece, but as the metagame moved on, Perfect Phoenix and by extension Dead Phoenix became too light to stay competitive, and the community now treats it as a collector's item.
- Released in Japan in the B-131 Booster, Dead Phoenix 0 Atomic, on January 26th, 2019.
