About This Part

Hasbro built Arc Balkesh B3 as its SwitchStrike System take on Takara Tomy's Arc Bahamut, launching it in western markets in the SwitchStrike Starter Pack Arc Balkesh B3 2Bump Atomic. It keeps the six clockwise, gapped blades and the movable sub-layer gimmick almost unchanged, though the tighter slopes of its blades give it noticeably higher burst resistance than its Japanese counterpart.

In Play

That extra burst resistance turns one of Arc Bahamut's weak points into a strength, and combined with the same left-spin gearing effect against right-spin rivals, it holds up well in both same-spin and opposite-spin defence work, making it a safer pick than Arc Bahamut. It remained a strong choice in the WBO's Burst Format well into 2019, only fading once Takara Tomy's Superking Layer System landed in 2020, and its strength was enough to see it banned from the WBO's Burst Limited Format as one of four barred Hasbro Layers, while it stands as a must-have within the WBO's Hasbro Only Format. Both the current Burst and Burst GT formats now consider it too light to compete.
