About This Part

Takara Tomy released Spriggan as a dual-spin Gatinko Chip for the Burst System's Gatinko Layer System, debuting in Japan on August 10th, 2019 as part of the B-149 GT Triple Booster Set. Hasbro renamed it Spryzen for western release, shipping it in the Pro Series Starter Pack Lord Spryzen Around-P Fusion' with the same design in weaker plastic. Its face design is drawn from the spriggan of Cornish folklore, and as a dual-spin part its spin direction can be switched by hand at the locking mechanism; two hard locks keep its Burst Resistance high even without a Dash Driver.

In Play

  • Released in Japan on August 10th, 2019 as part of the B-149 GT Triple Booster Set.
  • A Gold Turbo Ver. followed from Takara Tomy.
  • Brought west by Hasbro, renamed Spryzen, in the Lord Spryzen Around-P Fusion' Pro Series Starter Pack.

The Competitive View

Delivers occasional surprisingly strong hits whether mobile (on Accel) or stationary (on Defense/Survive), but lacks the consistency of more aggressive layers, and even paired with the top-tier Xtreme driver it remains behind Xcalibur and Valkyrie for Attack, with no shown potential in other combo types.

Verdict as the draft gives it: Outclassed by Xcalibur and especially the more versatile Valkyrie even with a top-tier driver; not a priority purchase.

  • Weight: 7.7 grams (below the roughly 8.0-gram Layer average)
  • Three prominent side bumps forming a pendulum-like weight distribution; ascending tooth heights ending in a tall third tooth and small fourth tooth

Works with

  • Works with the Xtreme driver for attack, though still outclassed by Xcalibur/Valkyrie combos.

Related parts named in the draft: Xcalibur, Valkyrie, Amaterios, Xtreme.
