About This Part

Takara Tomy released Bahamut, a left-spin Gatinko Chip, in Japan on May 25th, 2019 through B-143 Random Layer Vol. 1 Dread Bahamut Ten; it reached western shelves under the name Balkesh in a Hasbro Pro Series Starter Pack. Its dragon-head design echoes its predecessor, Arc Bahamut, and it carries a standard weight for the category. Seven fine locks leave it with only average burst resistance, so a Dash Driver is advised when running it. Hasbro's Balkesh version matches Takara Tomy's chip apart from being moulded in lighter-duty plastic.

In Play

Its middling burst resistance leaves Bahamut behind chips such as Longinus in the community's rankings across the Burst, Burst GT and Burst Limited formats, and the WBO's Burst Classic Format does not permit it at all; in every case players treat it as a collection piece rather than a tournament pick.

  • Debuted in Japan on May 25th, 2019 via B-143 Random Layer Vol. 1 Dread Bahamut Ten.
  • Reissued across GT Triple Booster, Random Booster and Random Layer sets, including a Gold Turbo colourway.
  • Released in the west as Balkesh in Hasbro's F2329 Soul Balkesh Paradox-P Eternal Ten.
  • Bahamut's design draws on dragon imagery rather than the giant fish that carries the name Bahamut in Arabic legend.
  • Dungeons & Dragons features a draconic deity called Bahamut, a possible inspiration for the chip's dragon motif.
