About This Part

Twisted, known in Japan as Basalt, is a Takara Tomy Fusion Wheel that reached Japanese stores on February 26, 2011 inside the BB-104 Starter Basalt Horogium 145WD and arrived in the west that November as the BB-104 Starter Pack Twisted Tempo 145WD. Thick and almost cylindrical, its perimeter carries alternating indents and ridges, and part of it overhangs the Spin Track beneath it. As a member of the Maximum Series, its design goal was raw weight, and at release it was the heaviest Fusion Wheel on the market.

In Play

Twisted's heft and round profile still rank it among the strongest Defense Type wheels, even after Diablo took the title of heaviest Fusion Wheel, and the notch cut into its perimeter — nicknamed the "Spiral Staircase of Death" and meant to offset its power with imbalance — turns out not to hurt it much; it also holds solid Stamina, though 4D Metal Wheels like Scythe and Phantom have since passed it there.

  • Released in Japan on February 26, 2011 with the BB-104 Starter Basalt Horogium 145WD.
  • Released in western countries in November 2011 with the BB-104 Starter Pack Twisted Tempo 145WD.
  • Its Japanese name Basalt likely refers to the design's resemblance to jointed basalt rock formations.
