About This Part
Star is a Frame Takara Tomy and Hasbro issued for the Burst System, the God Layer System and the SwitchStrike System. It debuted in Japan on October 21, 2017 inside the B-95 Random Booster Vol. 8 Shelter Regulus.5S.Tw, then reached western markets through the SwitchStrike Starter Pack carrying Shelter Regulus R3 5Star Tower. As its name suggests, the piece is star-shaped, with eight points on top split between a five-point star pattern and three filler points, plus ten more points underneath. That thick build makes Star heavier than most Frames, useful for Attack setups though not on the level of Meteor or Bump, while its smoother underside gives it some Life-After-Death, short of what Glaive or Cross provide.
In Play
Star sees play in the Attack combination Legend Spriggan or Sieg Xcalibur paired with 2, 4, 5, 7 or 8, Star and Xtreme, adding weight that feeds the setup's Burst Attack. The community treats it as a nice-to-have alternative when Meteor or Bump are unavailable, valuable for both Attack and Spin-Equalization builds.
- Debuted in Japan on October 21, 2017 with the B-95 Random Booster Vol. 8 Shelter Regulus.5S.Tw.
- Reached western countries through the SwitchStrike Starter Pack Shelter Regulus R3 5Star Tower.
- The Star Frame color in the Maximus Garuda G3 6Star Defense Starter Pack matches the color used for the Expand Frame.
The Competitive View
Adds weight to heavier Core Discs (2/4/5/7/8) to boost Attack potential, performing similarly to the Meteor Frame but slightly lighter. Cited combo: Legend Spriggan/Sieg Xcalibur 2/4/5/7/8 Star Xtreme.
Verdict as the draft gives it: A strong alternative to the heavier Meteor Frame in Attack combos when Meteor is unavailable; called a welcome collection addition.
- Star-shaped Frame, protrusion at each corner, too small to touch the opponent's Energy Layer
- One of the thickest/heaviest Frames in the line
- Takara Tomy: CoroCoro Magazine Star Frame (gold); B-00 Blaze Ragnaruk 4Star Blow (translucent blue); B-95 Shelter Regulus 5Star Tower (Random Booster Vol. 8, translucent cyan); B-95 Quad Quetzalcoatl 4Star Flugel (translucent black)
- Debut product/date left blank in the record
Works with
- Works with Core/Forge Discs 2, 4, 5, 7, 8 in Attack combinations.
Related parts named in the draft: Meteor, Legend Spriggan, Sieg Xcalibur, Xtreme.
