About This Part
Yell pairs a wide ring — wider than Spread and matching Polish — with a thick metal star at its centre that pulls weight inward, in the manner of Central. That centralized mass is meant to raise spin velocity, which lifts impact force in attack builds and knock-out resistance in defence builds, while the wide, circular rim and raised ring also boost life-after-death and precession time. It debuted in Japan on February 18th, 2017 with the B-71 Booster Acid Anubis Yell Orbit and later reached the west through Hasbro's Starter Pack Atlas Anubion A2 Yell Orbit.
In Play
The centralized weight that helps Yell in attack and defence also slows movement speed for mobile attack builds and, lacking outward weight distribution, leaves defence and stamina builds with weak spin retention; the community sees the drawbacks as offsetting the strengths, and with Core Discs and Disc Frames now available, treats Yell as a collector's piece.
- Debuted in Japan on February 18th, 2017 with the B-71 Booster Acid Anubis Yell Orbit.
The Competitive View
The wide, smooth ring boosts Layer-to-Disc contact and life-after-death against small-diameter Layers like Kerbeus K2 while resisting teeth-skipping, and the centralized star weight raises spin velocity and stability; used in the defense combo Kerbeus K2/Wyvern Yell Defense/Orbit and the attack combo Valtryek/Xcalius Yell Accel/Zephyr/Xtreme.
Verdict as the draft gives it: Rated a must-have for competitive bladers, offering more all-around value than similarly heavy disc Heavy due to added Layer-to-Disc contact and life-after-death.
- Weight approximately 21.2 grams (unconfirmed at time of writing)
- Wide smooth ring set higher than the central star, reducing floor-scrape risk
- Product: B-71 Acid Anubis Yell Orbit; no confirmed Hasbro release
