About This Part

Xanthus-Q is Hasbro's QuadStrike counterpart to Takara Tomy's Xanthus, sharing the same asymmetrical shape meant to line up with similarly lopsided Layers such as the Xiphoid QuadStrike Blade. Unlike the original it is one solid metal piece rather than a metal core plus an outer plastic piece, with its rim echoing that plastic piece's outline, and it swaps the "BU Lock" gimmick for an "Xn" marking. Like other QuadDrive and QuadStrike Discs its underside is hollowed out, cutting about 9 grams from its weight; at an average of 23.5 grams it is the lightest QuadDrive or QuadStrike Disc released. It debuted in western markets with the Xcalius Power Speed Launcher Set.

In Play

As a lighter, weaker version of the Takara Tomy original, the community sees no reason to run Xanthus-Q over Xanthus in the Burst format; it is also too light next to other QuadDrive and QuadStrike Discs to be recommended for Burst GT or Burst Limited, and it is not legal in the WBO's Burst Classic format.
