About This Part
Xanthus is an asymmetrical DB Disc from Takara Tomy named for one of Achilles' immortal horses in Greek mythology, with an outer plastic piece styled to recall Magnum, the Disc it draws from. Its lopsided build works with the Xcalibur DB Core and Xiphoid BU Blade to shift into a "One Hit Mode" after two clicks, lining up its triangular sword-tip protrusion with Xcalibur's metal sword gimmick and Xiphoid's own sword-tip shape, echoing how Magnum interacts with the Xeno Xcalibur Layer. Raised tabs on Xanthus also lock into a "BU Lock"-compatible DB Core's grooves, adding burst resistance and keeping the build steady in battle. It debuted in Japan on July 16th, 2022 with the B-200 Starter Xiphoid Xcalibur Xanthus Sword'-1.
In Play
Its low-hanging shape carries a scrape risk, so the community recommends tall Drivers such as Mobius or Quick' alongside it; even with its BU Lock gimmick it still trails Nexus paired with the S Gear, which offers a similarly low profile. It rates as a welcome, non-essential piece for the WBO's Burst format and is not legal in the WBO's Burst GT, Limited, or Classic formats.
