About This Part
Magnum is a Takara Tomy and Hasbro disc for the Burst System's Dual Layer System, built from a metal core wrapped in a plastic shell that leaves the underside metal and the mounting prongs exposed. It debuted in Japan on July 2nd, 2016 with the B-48 starter Xeno Xcalibur Magnum Impact, later reaching western markets through the starter Inferno Ifritor I2 Magnum Liner. The plastic shell carries three triangular studs and one round stud meant to spread weight across three points the way Triple does, and after two clicks its studs line up with the Xeno Xcalibur layer's sword contact point, though the light plastic build blunts the intended weight-distribution effect.
In Play
Magnum's triangular shape pairs well with the Valkyrie line of layers, but the community judges its plastic construction too light for competitive play and keeps it as a collector's piece.
- Debuted in Japan on July 2nd, 2016 with the B-48 starter Xeno Xcalibur Magnum Impact.
- Reached western markets with the starter Inferno Ifritor I2 Magnum Liner.
The Competitive View
Magnum's protrusions align with Valtryek and Valtryek V2's contact points, occasionally letting the disc itself clip the opponent's layer, which gives lightweight attack builds extra punch when heavier discs like Heavy or Gravity aren't available.
