About This Part
Knuckle is a disc Takara Tomy released for the Dual Layer branch of the Burst System, debuting in Japan on April 2nd, 2016 with the B-35 Storm Spriggan Knuckle Unite starter and reaching the west through Hasbro's Epic Rivals Battle Set. Its circular build carries six notches around the rim and four holes near the centre, with a "K" marked on its prongs for identification, and those centre holes push most of its weight outward for strong stamina, though it still trails discs like Spread and Gravity on raw stamina. What sets Knuckle apart is burst resistance second only to Down and Armed, neither of which shares its clean profile, making it a once-strong all-rounder that heavier discs have since outclassed. Later Hasbro releases, including Poison Cyclops C5 Knuckle Guard-H and the Evolution Trio Spryzen 3-Pack, run noticeably lighter at about 18.5 grams against the usual 20.2-gram average.
In Play
Knuckle once suited nearly any build but has been outclassed by heavier Core Discs, Disc Frames, and Hasbro discs like Wheel-SP and Tapered-Q, leaving it a collection piece in most formats, though the community still rates it a top-tier, must-have pick in the WBO's Burst Classic format.
- Released in Japan April 2nd, 2016 with the B-35 Storm Spriggan Knuckle Unite starter.
- Brought west through Hasbro's Epic Rivals Battle Set.
- Later Hasbro runs, such as Poison Cyclops C5 Knuckle Guard-H and the Evolution Trio Spryzen 3-Pack, shipped at a lighter weight than earlier releases.
The Competitive View
In the Stamina combination Guardian Kerbeus Knuckle Revolve/Orbit/Atomic, Knuckle's high Outward Weight Distribution bolsters Guardian Kerbeus's already-strong Stamina and adds Burst defense, with Revolve favoring more Stamina/Burst defense and Orbit/Atomic favoring Stability/KO defense instead; its small perimeter notches do give it noticeably less Life-After-Death than top Discs like 4/7 Glaive and Spread, however.
Verdict as the draft gives it: Once an excellent all-purpose Disc, Knuckle is now outclassed by heavier God Layer System Discs but remains viable for Stamina thanks to its Burst defense, making it a 'welcome addition' rather than must-have in Standard Format; in the Hasbro-Only Format (which lacks Left Spin and God Layer Discs) it is rated a must-have for all combination types.
